No firework except sparklers are to be held in hand when lit.
Never take fireworks apart or modify them in any way
Keep fireworks in a closed box. Remove one at a time and close the lid at once
Do not leave fireworks unattended or close to lighting area
Be familiar with your fireworks before starting the display. Pay particular attention to the location of the wick and proper direction
Keep everyone back at least 40 feet for smaller ground effects, 150 feet for aerial effects.
Most fireworks are design to be planted at least one third in a bucket of soil or sand and tilted slightly away from the audience
Never lean over a firework when lighting or after an item has been lit
HIGH WIND will affect the quality of your display and may create a hazard. Be sure the firing area has lots of open space
Using a flash light, ignite each firework at arms length and immediately stand back
If an item does not ignite easily or seems to fizzle do not handle for ten minutes
Have a large bucket of WATER or a water hose available. Hose down all debris after your display
People lighting the display should wear ear and eye protection. A propane torch provides a constant steady flame for lighting

TOP WICK
Plant firework at least 1/3 in. in a bucket of sand or soil.
Note - Tilt 5 - 10 degrees away of audience
SIDE WICK
Plant firework in a bucket of sand or soil up to the wick.

MORTARS AND MINE BURSTS
Place on flat ground or better still place on a piece of plywood and tack it down with finishing nails.
CONES, SHOWERS & FOUNTAINS
Place in flat ground or flat piece of plywood. Various fountains have to be planted in a bucket of sand or soil.
SPARKLERS
Keep everyone 6 feet apart. Do not allow anybody to chase or wave sparklers at each other or throw them. Have place burnt out sparklers in a bucket of water.
